What is a great scary movie I can rent. Not gory but smart and scary?

I dont care for Texas Chainsaw Macre etc... It can however lean a little towards sci fi erfly Effect etc.. You guys always come through for me. Other movies I liked, Frailty, Signs, The Mothman Prophecies. Talk to me people. And thanks in advance.
