Where do you think my hermit crab went?

My hermit crab that has escaped twice is once again missing. Any ideas where it could have gone? (ex. corners of rooms, outside even, under some thing) Or does it not like its habitat? I have another one in the cage and plenty of food, water, pebbles, and even a nice little decoration tree. What could be wrong and why is he escaping?
