Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt?

Am reading the book currently and am confused. During Frank's teenage years, did his mother have a like ual affair with Lamman? Some things in the book are leading me to believe this but I haven't finished yet, so don't know for sure. I would appreciate if you could tell me without giving away the ending or the fates of the other characters. Thanks so much!
